Awning buying guide

If you’re new to awnings, some of the terminologies can be confusing. Fortunately, we’ve put together something of an awning guide to help you understand your GH awning. Here’s a breakdown of awning terminology you’re likely to encounter:

Awning Terminology
  1. GH Windout Cassette Box
  2. Roof Sheet Canopy: This rolls into the cassette
  3. Facia: The outer Fascia of your awning cassette winds out from your roof sheet and is where the front sheet feeds into
  4. PVC Windows: These are clear glass PVC
  5. Internal Night Curtains: PVC roll-up curtain
  6. PVC Vehicle Awning Skirt: This is for the bottom of the vehicle body to prevent a draft from coming in
  7. Baseframe Kit: Used on hard standing to tension the sheets and structure in bad weather conditions
  8. Sheet Tracking: Fitted on the sides of the vehicle to attach the sheets and create a weatherproof seal
  9. Heavy Duty Corner Posts: Aluminium box section with a keder groove for the sheets to feed into
  10. Heavy Duty Centre Leg: Aluminium box section leg with keder groove to create central division
  11. Split Colour PVC Sheeting: 1 metre-high colour division
  12. Terrace Rails: Horizontal division that’s 1m-high to create a separate bottom banner (perfect for branding) and a top removable roll up window panel
  13. Mudwall: Keep the dirt off your main sheeting
  14. Roll Up Zip Door: Unzip and roll up to create a doorway
  15. Groundsheet: Available in mesh or solid PVC depending on the ground type
